Also, we've learned that Halloween is not a big deal in New Zealand. What?? That might be a problem, because I think it's our favorite holiday of the year. Jake always comes up with some ridiculous idea and I use duct tape and safety pins and other stuff lying around the house to pull it all together. For the past several years we've been to a party thrown by our friends Cindy and Jeff in Peculiar, Mo. It's kind of a big deal -- Cindy takes days off work to prep the house with some awesome and creepy decorations, and we always enjoy the great costumes and "horrordierves." You can see photos on her cool blog at Halloweenmaven. In the meantime, here are some pics of us.

Anxiously awaiting visas
Pretty nervous today. I think we may be hearing from the NZ Embassy in Washington D.C. about our visas tomorrow. Hoping for good news! Plus, I had a meeting with my bosses about hiring someone to replace me. It's a scary feeling to announce my resignation before we are 100% sure this thing is going to happen.

And the blogging begins!
Is it really happening? We're waiting for the New Zealand Embassy to issue (or deny) our NZ work visas. We've supplied them with reams of documents -- surely the mere weight of evidence we've provided is sufficient...? We'll cross our fingers and see.
