Bob who?

In a meeting at work today, someone casually slipped "Bob's your uncle" into the conversation. I've read about this little gem of Kiwi slang, but never heard it out loud. Made my day.

That's a phrase I grew up in England hearing a lot of - so I'm guessing it must have originated from there.

I have two Uncle Bobs so whenever someone said that to me I always felt impelled to say, 'And he is!'

Ha ha! Someone said this to us during our 2nd week in NZ, and I couldn't help but smile :-) Love it!

I don't have an uncle named Bob, but I do have an aunt named Flo...that's just hard to beat.

It's nice to have a heads-up on some NZ phrasing. Interesting to read about the different colloquy (I don't have an Uncle Bob either :)
